Stop Thinking You’re Smart And Start Thinking!

Do people actually think before they speak? If people only knew how ridiculous they sound when they open their mouth maybe they would spend more time deciding what comes out!

There is no better way to learn the lessons of life and business than to simply observe people. While it’s certainly essential to have a quality product or service to offer and an opportunity to excel financially, the essence of business and life, in general, is our ability to communicate with people. In my 20 years of experience, I guess I would say I am closing in on probably communicating with at least one million people so, as you can imagine, I’ve seen a thing or two!

Do you like free entertainment? Pay attention - I never knew when I got started on the path of entrepreneurial thinking and personal growth and self-development in my life that the best entertainment in the world would not come in any night club, vacation or special event. It would be right in front of me everyday…people! When I attended my first seminar about success, the biggest lesson I learned is how much I didn’t know. I didn’t realize how unaware I was and how smart I thought I was…the truth of the matter is I didn’t have a clue. One of my first mentors showed me the light with a simple question, “What’s bigger…your ego, or your bank account?”.

In other words, you sure do a lot of talking for someone who doesn’t have that many results. Why is it the people with the least amount of results talk the most, and the majority of the people who worked the hardest to achieve the most results are humble, listen, pay attention and are the most teachable? When I look at some of the many wealthy and successful people I know, it amazes me how humble they are. You wouldn’t even know that they are worth millions, because they understand that money talks and wealth whispers. These same individuals read books, listen to self-help CD’s and attend seminars and workshops to improve themselves. And, they are already successful!

Once again, when I look back and think about the fact that someone who made millions of dollars and who was living a successful and fulfilled life in all areas was willing to teach me everything he knew, I would have been a fool not to listen and learn. And the biggest lesson I’ve learned is, there are a lot of fools. It’s amazing how close minded we are, how we think everything should be given to us, and how unaware we really are. I’ve had people come up with all kinds of excuses, reasons and demands over the years. It’s pure entertainment! I think to myself: Are they really saying this? Have they thought about what is coming out of their mouth right now? I’m just glad I’m past that stage in my life. That is why it is essential to realize that the influences we have in our lives are going to have a major impact on our future.

Choose your influences wisely. It is pretty much a statistical fact that 95% of the population is going to be nothing more than average while 5% are going to achieve success. I share this, not to discourage you, but to enlighten you because the best part about success is that while it may appear that you are competing with everyone else, you’re not. You’re competing against yourself. Therefore, it’s up to you to make it to the 5% and I can’t think of a better way to get there than to associate and learn from other successful people who are documented, proven and happy in their lives.

The Truth: Our destiny is affected by two things: The influences we have in our lives and the decisions we make.

Live with Zero Doubt!
