Stick It Out…It’ll Be Worth It!

Where We Go Wrong: Unfortunately we’ve been raised in a very instantaneous society. We have very little patience and that has led to the majority of people being quitters. Think about it; we have instant rice, instant pudding and TV dinners. They mix the mayonnaise in the package with the tuna fish and they even put the peanut butter and jelly in the same jar. Well, I guess we wouldn’t want people to work too hard. We have drive through restaurants, dry cleaners, pharmacies and a whole host of other so called conveniences. We have microwave ovens which have enabled us to prepare a meal in ninety percent less time and yet we still pace in front of the microwave because it’s taking too long. ! ; We all have been guilty of taking our food out with a handful of seconds still remaining. In a nut shell, we have been programmed for convenience and instant results and the reality is; success is not convenient and, in all the cases I’ve seen, it is definitely not instant!

Dream Big But Set Realistic Expectations: So how do we avoid falling prey to this instantaneous mentality?

  • The first thing is knowing exactly what you want and why you want it. You can’t pursue a dream you can’t see in your mind and you won’t pursue it for very long without a passionate desire! Know your “why”; it’s your reason for doing it and sticking it out.
  • Secondly, you need to know what to expect, because the more you know what to expect the less unexpected things will happen to you. This is where having an experienced coach is so important. With the right coach you have someone who’s been there and done that and therefore they can tell you exactly what to expect. I learned what to expect, at the countless seminars and workshops I attended over the years led by amazingly successful people who had already been down the road I was then traveling. So, heed the advice of people who’ve done it…and done it well!
  • Thirdly, is to have a reference point and to look at historical success. Thomas Edison, Martin Luther King, The Wright Brothers, and Oprah Winfrey is just a short list of a long line of successes who all had at least one common thread; Persistence! So it’s obvious this is going to play a major key in your success as well.
  • Finally, realize that if you are growing something from the ground up you are now a farmer. Farmer, you might ask? That’s right, farmer! Think about all the great fruits and vegetables we enjoy and are so important to our diets. Do you think this is available to us instantly? Do you think the farmer who purchased land many years ago started out by harvesting crops? We all know better than that. That farmer started with nothing, maybe less than nothing, probably a bunch of weeds. And so the process begins with preparing the fields by pulling out the weeds and getting the soil ready for the planting of the seeds. Then once the seeds are planted those seeds must be watered, nurtured and protected just to give them the fighting chance to grow roots. Now you do realize that roots ! grow down before plants grow up and that means you won’t actually see visual progress for your efforts right away, but that doesn’t mean it’s not working, it just means you can’t see it yet. This is where most people quit, because average people have to see it to believe it and successful people first believe it and work hard to make it come to fruition. So if you understand farming (success) you’ll understand that when you plant your dream tree, in the beginning you will take care of that tree much more than it will take care of you, but one day that tree will provide you with the fruits of your labor and strength to hang your hammock and shade to keep you cool when your relaxing from what you’ve grown.

What My Experience Tells Me: Even when it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel and the obstacles and problems appear to be insurmountable, and you ultimately feel like throwing in the towel, stick it out anyway! You started on your journey for success because you had a dream, so keep your eye on that dream and be relentless in the pursuit of your goals and dreams. If you stick it out, and work at it each day ultimately things will come to realization.

Remember This: In the beginning you’ll work more for less, but ultimately you’ll work less for more. Success is the hardest thing you’ll ever do, but it’s worth it!

IT’S WORTH IT!

Live with Zero Doubt!
